Damian "Junior Gong" Marley is a Jamaican reggae musician who grew up in the working class neighborhood of Chalks Village. His music career started at age 11, when he formed a group with his brothers and cousins called the Melody Makers. He rose to international prominence in 1994, when he released his debut studio album, Survival, which included his international hit song "No Woman, No Cry." In 1995, he won a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album and was nominated for two others. In addition to recording and performing, Marley has founded several charities and social awareness campaigns devoted to improving the quality of life for the people of Jamaica and beyond.
